Mummy MOT

Up to 1/2 of all women experience weakness in both the abdominal muscles and pelvic floor muscles after pregnancy and up to 1/3 still have a tummy gap at eight weeks post-birth. This can cause instability or poor core strength leading to women developing pelvic or back pain or bladder, bowel and sexual dysfunction. These conditions should not be something you should just put up with as a result of having a baby.

It’s recommended that women have an initial assessment after their 6-8 week GP check, but we also treat women who gave birth years ago that may still have a tummy gap or related pelvic floor issues.

Having completed a specialist two year masters in Women’s Health, Sally is determined to improve the care provided to women postnatally. Alongside her Mummy MOT training she is also a qualified Pregnancy and Postpartum Athleticism Coach and so is able to provide specialist exercise and rehabilitation advice.

Mums need to be able to bend, lift and squat so we provide functional exercises to get you moving again safely, no matter how long ago your birth was.

Specialist Postnatal Treatment

The Mummy MOT includes a full postural screen and pelvic floor assessment. We also do a comprehensive abdominal muscle exam to check for any separation. If you have had a c-section or episiotomy then these areas can be checked and assessed to see if they are healing correctly. It also includes a thorough screening for any bowel, bladder or sexual dysfunction.

Following the examination we can then offer tailored advise and a bespoke rehabilitation program based on your goals and lifestyle.

I would highly recommend any new mum to go and see Sally for a Mummy MOT. After not receiving much support following the birth of my son I was really keen to get my stomach and pelvic floor checked - Sally was able to answer all of my questions and made me feel really cared for.
